She earned her Masters Degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida. Cara has over 20 years experience in working with children and adolescents, adults, couples and families but currently works with older teens and adults exclusively providing individual therapy. Her experience is mainly in private practice, both in person and virtually.
Cara utilizes a variety of techniques to guide persons through the therapeutic process. Most importantly, she believes the personal connection between client and therapist is essential to a satisfying relationship. She uses person centered therapy to begin, where a client takes the lead to identify areas of change and set goals for treatment. Cara also uses solution focused therapy
to help clients identify areas of growth and help them to achieve increased life satisfaction.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is used to help clients reframe their negative/unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors to more positive thought processes and behaviors. Cara uses a variety of interventions to build coping skills and their own “toolbox” to manage life transitions.
Cara is a mother to two children, one in high school and one in college and two dogs. She enjoys watching and playing tennis, walking/going to the gym, listening to audiobooks, shopping and traveling.
