Richard M.J. Fryer, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) & NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor) received a Masters Degree in Counseling from Asbury Seminary. He has a diverse background that includes being raised in four countries; The US, England, Egypt and Canada with the blessing of world travel well into early adulthood.
Richard has been in practice professionally since 2010. His graduate training involved work in the career counseling arena. Experience clinically has included private practice, working in community mental health, and various inpatient treatment settings.
Eclectic and flexible in approach, he will often elicit a client’s inherent resources and strengths to obtain needed internal leverage for change as a solution focused CBT orientated therapist. He urges those he works with to be vulnerable and authentically real in examination of self, and as they acknowledge all aspects of self, they gain courage and inner resolve to make healthy choices. With this comes the gentle reminder that true growth often does not come in comfort.
Emphasizing the client / counselor relationship and rapport as foundational in helping to facilitate healing, he is dedicated to helping his clients to love themselves back to life as men and women of intrinsic value and entirely worthy of their commitment to wholeness.
A favorite quote is as follows:
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy … the chance to draw back. Always ineffectiveness … The moment that one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.
