Dunia Lobo began her professional career by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from La Universidad Independiente de Costa Rica. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She has completed several rigorous requirements to become licensed, certified and registered to provide high quality mental health services. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist- Supervisor.
For over 20 years, she has been promoting mental health, personal growth and wellness in children, adolescents and adults through various roles. She encourages and supports clients while preparing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to be empowered. She assists her clients through their life journey, taking into account each person in his/her full dimensions: mind, body and spirit. She strongly believes in the human innate capacity to learn, grow, heal, and overcome life’s challenges.
She uses an array of evidence based therapeutic techniques to assist her clients in achieving their goals. Dunia is trained and experienced in: play therapy, guided imagery, hypnotherapy, the counting method, progressive counting, CBT, downward arrow technique, exposure therapy. In addition she is a Sandtray therapist expert and level 2 EMDR trained, She is a compassionate psychotherapist who provides high quality, competent, and direct services in English and Spanish.
